Holiday Nails Inspiration!

Doing your nails during the holidays is SO FUN! (okay for me it's pretty much ANY time of the year)
During the fall/winter months it's so pretty to wear the bold and/or sparkly colors to brighten up dreary weather and compliment all the fall and Christmas decor.
Even if you just have one bottle of sparkly polish, you can use it in lots of different ways!

So today I'm showcasing these five beauties.
From left to right: Sally Hansen "The Golden Rule", Nicole by OPI "Haley Good Lookin", OPI "Mauving to Manitoba", OPI "Pompeii Purple", and OPI "The Thrill of Brazil."

(Thumb-Pompeii Purple, Index-Mauving to Manitoba, Third-The Thrill of Brazil, Ring-Haley Good Lookin, Pinky-The Golden Rule)

Pompeii Purple is GORGEOUS. This picture just doesn't even do justice. It's like a reddish pink with a purple iridescence. Very flattering for all skin tones. So so pretty.

Mauving to Manitoba is a basically what is says. A dark mauve color-brownish, pinkish purple color.
My husband jokes about the color mauve as I tried a long time ago to explain the color to him, but he still doesn't get it because it's too ambiguous (he's a guy, only understands ROYGBP). So now he jokes and just says everything is mauve because every color is in mauve. Haha! Which he does kinda have a point ;-)
And that's just one of the funny conversations us Moores have.

The Thrill of Brazil  is a darker, true red. In case you're unfamiliar with undertones, a true red means it's not a blue or pinky-red (which is a cool toned) and it's also not an orangey-red (warm toned). I love true reds because they're neutral. And I have a neutral skin tone.

Undertones can be confusing, ESPECIALLY FOR FINDING THE RIGHT FOUNDATION.
Dude, that's a post all on it's own!
When I worked at Macy's at the Clinique counter couple years back that was 90% of my job. Most people came in looking for the right foundation. At first, I wasn't even a total pro with undertones so I was a little nervous, but I'm glad I was challenged because I became a total pro. My manager would commend me on my foundation matches/makeovers for people.
So I'd love to share my knowledge with you and do a post about it if you have any questions or if foundation is just totally foreign to you!
That's what people like me are here for, no worries :-)

Haley Good Lookin' is actually more pink than in the picture. It's pretty opaque so multiple coats are needed. This is perfect for an accent color. Or painting it just at the base of all your nails.

The Golden Rule is really not that gold, because I don't like strong gold nail colors that look way to yellow. This one is a little bit more neutral. This would be fun to paint on your ring fingers and have all the other nails be red!
Really, you should do whatever you want.
It's glitter for crying out loud! Be creative and have fun!! :-)

So now you can look fabulous for the holidays (or maybe you know what you want as a stocking stuffer now??) ;-)

My Favorite Nail Polish Color EVER!

Behold.
The most beautiful nail polish color in the world (in my humble opinion).
I'm super girly and have always had a knack for all things hair, makeup, and nails.
I could talk about it all day! It makes me happy.

I will begin my first beauty post that I've ever done in my life with
OPI's "Cozu-Melted in the Sun."
I stumbled across this gem a few years when I had a job at a beauty supply store.
Once I started wearing it, I got a lot of customers who loved it too!
So you'll get your fair share of compliments wearing this.

Cozu-melted in the Sun, in my own words, is a combination of a lot of different colors.
It's like a rose gold with a hint of plum. That's why I love it!!
It mimics a Caribbean sunset, hence the reason why it's named after Cozumel, Mexico (doesn't OPI come up with the most clever names??)
And it's loaded with shimmer, which is perfect for me because Imma bling kinda girl.

I took this picture outside so you could see it in its truest form.
The formula is thin, so it dries very quickly.
I did two coats of color. If you're really in a hurry you could get away with one coat since it's not opaque at all. Two coats is best though.
It looks beautiful on all skin tones too. It's warm with gold shimmer but also has pink and plum to complement the cool skin tones.
If you like wearing nail colors according to the seasons, this one suits them all-very shimmery for fall/winter, light enough for spring/summer.
It's not too subtle, not too bold.
It looks fabulous with whatever colored clothes you wear.
It's such a classic, timeless color. OPI got this one right.
There's just too much pretty in one bottle!!

Also, this is the best dry fast top coat out there.
I love doing my nails, but hate waiting for them to dry!
This makes it so your nails are dry in five minutes or less depending on how many coats you did and thin the formula is.
I know at least a couple other Moore girls use this stuff, too! It's amazing.
You won't regret buying either of these polishes!!

Told you I could go on and on, but I'll stop here :-)
Happy polishing!

BBQ Bacon & Pineapple Pizza Recipe

For a long time I never cared to make my own pizza and would just throw a frozen one in the oven and be done, but ever since I've started making my own I haven't bought ONE frozen pizza since! It's so much tastier homemade.
My pizza has evolved over the past several months. I got the idea from The Country Cook to do a BBQ bacon type of pizza, but I changed a lot of ingredients and wanted to at least make it a little bit more healthy and more tangy with the pineapple.
This one here is by far the best I've ever made it!
Jensen gets so excited when I make this. You can't go wrong when it's got bacon in it :-)

Ingredients:
1 tube of refrigerated pizza dough (or make you own dough!)
1/2-1 cup of BBQ sauce
1/2 pound of bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 1/2-2 cups spinach (Sorry, I don't really measure, I just know that I put a good amount on there!)
1 8oz. can of pineapple chunks
garlic powder

Directions:
Preheat oven. If using the your refrigerated pizza dough, follow the directions on the back of the tube. I used the Pillsbury classic dough and I have a pizza stone so I preheated my oven to 425.
Spray your pan or pizza stone with non-stick cooking spray. Spread out the dough and make sure it's all at an even thickness. Spread the BBQ sauce on. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese, then the bacon, pineapple, bell peppers, spinach, then the last 1/2 cup of cheese in that order. Lightly dust the garlic powder all over.
Bake according to the package (basically until the crust is golden brown and cheese is melted) My gas oven is lightning fast so I actually only bake it for about 9 minutes. Enjoy!!

Simple Baked Potato Bar

This is one of those dinners that I think is pretty common, but just in case you forgot about it here is my version! I altered my mom's recipe. There are lots of ways to go about potato bar!

Ingredients:
-6-7 red potatoes
-1/4 cup chopped green onions
-salt and pepper, to taste
-1/4 tsp. garlic powder
-1/8 tsp. cumin
-1/8 tsp. paprika
-1 tbsp. olive oil
-1 can of chili
-2 cups steamed broccoli
-shredded cheddar cheese
-sour cream
-bacon bits (optional)

Directions:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Wash and cut up the potatoes into halves. Place all the potatoes inside a gallon ziploc bag. Pour in the olive oil and season with salt and pepper, garlic powder, cumin, and paprika. Seal it shut. Shake the bag until everything is mixed well and potatoes are evenly coated in seasonings.
Create a foil packet out of aluminum foil leaving enough overlap on the sides to completely cover all the potatoes. Pour the ziploc bag of potatoes into the foil packet. Sprinkle all of the green onions on top of potatoes. Wrap up your potatoes in the foil and make sure all the sides are sealed well so nothing can fall out
Bake for about 40mins or until fork tender.

Top the potatoes with warm chili, steamed broccoli, cheese, sour cream and bacon bits. Yum! Enjoy!

Fall Wreath!

I was kinda late in the game for decorating a fall wreath, which is funny because this might be my favorite wreath I've ever made! I love all the rich colors.
But anyhow, here is a little inspiration in case you need ideas!

Easy Pumpkin Muffin Recipe

I'm so happy it's fall! I am all things pumpkin this time of year...or anytime of the year...
However, I am certainly not one that loves to spend a ton of time in the kitchen. I like things simple and quick! And this is definitely one of them.

This is an adapted recipe from Six Sisters' Stuff. Can you tell that I love them??
Mine is different from their Chocolate Pumpkin muffin recipe though...
Because I do NOT like chocolate.

Um, WHAT?!?! WHY?!
You're a GIRL and you DON'T like chocolate?!
What does your husband get you for Valentine's Day?!
Flowers. He gets me flowers.
And a nice evening out to dinner. That's all this girl needs! :-)

Now that I got that out of the way, let's move on.
This recipe is super adaptable so do whatever you feel like!
And these don't taste super pumpkin-y to me.
They did for Jensen, but he's not a crazy pumpkin lover like me.
I think they have the perfect balance of pumpkin taste without feeling like you're eating it out of the can. They're just moist and soft and full of flavor!

Easy Pumpkin Muffins:

1 box yellow or spice cake mix (or whatever cake flavor you want)
1/3 cup cinnamon applesauce
1 can 15oz. pumpkin puree
1 tbsp. pumpkin pie spice
1 tbsp. cinnamon

Directions:

**DO NOT follow directions or use ingredients on the back of cake mix box**

Preheat oven to 350. Add the cake mix, pumpkin puree, applesauce, and spices to a large bowl. Stir until well blended. The batter will be pretty dense.
Line a cupcake tin with cupcake liners. Lightly spray the inside of each liner with nonstick cooking spray. Spoon batter into each liner until 3/4 full. The shape of the muffin will be a little irregular due to the density of the batter. This makes about 12-14 muffins.
Bake for 18-22 minutes (might need to bake them longer depending on your oven. I did mine longer) or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.

OPTIONAL: You can also make a really yummy and simple streusel topping! Which I'm totally doing next time. This one I found from Marty's Musings

Streusel Topping:
1/2 stick of margarine, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour

Mix all 3 ingredients in a separate bowl. After you have spooned the pumpkin batter into cupcake liners, sprinkle the streusel topping onto each muffin and press down slightly. Enjoy!!

Tomato Tortellini Soup Recipe

Well, in southern California it doesn't feel like there are any seasons...but according to the calendar we've jumped right into fall!

I just love soup and salad with some yummy bread.
Isn't it such a warm and cozy combination??
And then I REALLY love this dinner because it involves my two loves: pasta and bread.
So there ya go.
Having said that I don't think I need to make this dinner sound any more delicious :-)

Ingredients:

1 (14oz) can stewed tomatoes (after opening, cut them up into pieces)
4 (14.5oz) cans chicken broth
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
1/4 parmesan cheese
1 16oz. frozen package peas and carrots
1 12oz. package refridgerated tortellini
(I get the huge 2 pack "Five Cheese Tortellini" at Costco and freeze them. When needed I cut them apart and use one entire package. You can definitely use less if you want!)
2 cups shredded, cooked chicken (optional)

Directions:

In a large pot, combine first six ingredients. Boil for 10 minutes on medium heat. Then add tortellini and chicken. Cook for another 5-10 minutes or until tortellini is heated through. Right here I boil it for another 5 minutes. Makes about 3 quarts. (Yay for leftovers!!) Serve with a spinach salad and warm garlic bread.

Broccoli Chicken Casserole With Quinoa Recipe

Another casserole recipe! :) This one has evolved over the years for me. I've gotten creative and changed some ingredients gradually, so it's very versatile!
Feel free to make it as creamy or healthy as you want!

Ingredients:

1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1-1/2 cups cooked chicken
1/2 cup sour cream
1/4 cup milk
1 cup cheddar cheese
1 cup French Fried onions (optional)
1 red or green bell pepper, cubed
3 cups steamed broccoli (or you can mix it up like I did and add cauliflower and carrots too)

Directions:

Boil quinoa according to package instructions. Set aside. Steam veggies until fork tender.
In a separate bowl, mix together soup, cheese, sour cream, milk, chicken. Then add the vegetables. Pour into 8x8 dish sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
Bake uncovered at 350 for 25 minutes or until bubbly.
Top with French fried onions (if chosen) Continue baking for 5-10 minutes or until onions are golden brown.
All ingredients can be substituted for lower fat/condensed alternatives (i.e. fat free milk, plain low fat yogurt, etc.)
Serve over quinoa. (Makes about 3-4 servings)

The Perfect Fruit Smoothie Recipe

When I lived with one of my sisters years ago, we had these ALL the time! They're so yummy AND healthy! Perfect combo. And it's only a few ingredients! Score!

Ingredients:

Any kind of apple or grape juice (The brand Langers has an Apple Peach Mango juice that is THE BOMB)
Frozen fruit (the big Fiesta Blend bag of strawberries, mangos, pineapple, and papaya from Costco).
1 6oz. container of non-fat peach yogurt
1 frozen banana

Directions:

Take frozen banana, break in half, and place in blender.
Add about 1-2 cups frozen fruit and the ENTIRE container of yogurt.
Pour juice until blender looks at about half full (Because I pack in a lot of fruit I always go a little over half way so it's not too thick).
Pulse blender a few times and then blend. Serve in a pretty glass and straw because it's fun. (Serves 2)

Note: Obviously you can choose any flavor of yogurt, juice, and frozen fruit. Totally up to you. Make it your own perfect fruit smoothie! This just happens to be my favorite mixture.

Crockpot Sweet and Sour Meatballs Recipe

I think we can all agree that crockpots are amazing. Especially when it's super hot outside, the last thing you wanna do is turn your oven on.
This is another one of our favorites and it's SO easy!
It's originally posted from The Six Sisters

Ingredients:

1 (10oz) jar sweet and sour sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2lbs. frozen meatballs (I get the huge bag at Costco and throw in about 24-25)
1 medium red bell pepper, cubed
1 medium green bell pepper, cubed (I only had 2 red on hand)
1 medium onion, cubed
1 (20oz) can pineapple chunks, drained

Directions:

Spray slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray. Place all ingredients inside and stir gently. Cover and cook on low 7-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours. Serve over rice. (Because mine are fully cooked frozen meatballs, I always cook on LOW for 5 hours) Enjoy!!

Chicken Cordon Bleu Casserole Recipe!

I LOVE casseroles. Dinner that is easy to throw together and makes a lot of leftovers so I can skip making dinner for a night??
YES PLEASE.
My husband is 6'6" and an athlete, so needless to say, he eats for 3 people :)
And this is actually one of his favorite dishes that I make! It's a fun twist on Chicken Cordon Bleu. And for the record, I got it from The Six Sisters
They have a ton of yummy recipes!

Chicken Cordon Bleu Casserole:

Ingredients:
1 6oz. pkg. chicken flavored stuffing mix
1 (10 3/4oz) can cream of chicken soup
1 tablespoon prepared, Dijon mustard (I use the Honey Dijon and normally pour in a little more than a tablespoon because we really like the taste)
3-4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cooked and cubed
3 cups fresh broccoli florets
2 cups cooked, chopped ham
6 slices of extra thin Swiss cheese

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Prepare stuffing as directed on package. Mix soup and mustard in medium bowl; stir in chicken, broccoli, and ham. Spoon into 2-qt. casserole dish sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Top with cheese slices and stuffing.
Bake for 35-40 minutes or until heated through. Serves 3-4 (or in my case 2 haha) You can always double it for more people. Enjoy!

Introducing, Tracy

Hi there! My name is Tracy Moore. I'm 22 years old.
My husband, Jensen, and I are San Diego natives.
Yes, we went to the same high school but didn't really notice each other.
He was just a really tall guy who played basketball and I was just a little tennis player.
When he came back from his 2 year mission for the LDS church, we were totally lovestruck and got married just a few months later in the San Diego temple!
We've been married for almost 3 years now. For the first 2 years of our marriage we lived in Provo where Jensen went to BYU. Once he graduated we made our way back down to warm, sunny Southern California next to Disneyland, where Jensen goes to the Chiropractic school in Whittier.
I am a housewife where I have acquired my cooking, crafting, and decorating skills. I am life-long pianist and have been serving as a church pianist for over 2 years. I am currently learning graphic design and how to sew. My loves include: Jensen, our families, Disneyland, ULTA, the beach, and yoga.

I'm beyond stoked to start this blog with my sisters-in-law!
