Trick or Treat Bags

When I was a little girl my mom made these trick or treat bags that were so simple yet so wonderful. I thought I was the coolest kid because my mom made my trick or treat bag. Every year when we got out the decorations that was the first thing I looked for MY trick or treat bag. After Trunk or Treat last Saturday, at our church, I realized my children have not yet experienced this thrill I know, I needed to get out more as a kid. I wanted them to have these for Halloween! So here is your guide to make your kids Halloween just a little more special.

This is a very simple craft. Just get some Halloween crafts and black tote bags. I got all of my crafts and a pack of 3 tote bags from Hobby Lobby. Everything cost me under $15. I want these bags to last for years so I made sure even the stickers were hot glued on.

The girls were very excited to decorate their bags. Their artistic side really came out.

My hope is that they get just as excited when these come out of the Halloween box every year.

Happy Halloween!

You've Been Booed!

I SO wish I would have remembered this fun little tradition earlier in the Halloween season!
Growing up this was something I always looked forward to.
Then the kids in my neighborhood grew up and the tradition just kind of died.
I was thinking about Holiday traditions to start with my family today and suddenly I remembered this little game my neighborhood friends and I would play during Halloween and decided I have to carry it on because it brought so much fun and joy to me when I was younger.
So, when I got home today I quickly made this little printout and told Hunter that we were going to do it tonight.
Sure it might seem silly that the two of us did this when we don't have kids to come with us yet, but it was SO much fun to do it together!
I made cookies and got little treats to set on their doorsteps, Hunter knocked on the door, then we ran and hid to watch their reactions.
We were laughing the whole time and who doesn't love a little adrenaline rush? ;)
So, I'm sorry I'm posting this when Halloween is on Friday but you could always do it tomorrow night!
It's still a fun little family activity and you are doing service by giving treats to your neighbors and friends!
I also wanted to make sure I posted this now so I don't forget next year.
Now go Boo someone!
(and no, it isn't "boo" like when someone does something bad its "Boooo" as in what a ghost says!)

All my love,
Aleigh Joy

A Spookley Family Home Evening

 https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLLlAe0GOFsMrZ6qwJQOQ4bWrL6lgVaK3GVQPnuR1fZMa4r4z9ALakLoLdm58X0j4Yi_L9VoEVshanN8gS8OODkwxVLkb4RpRqkYGYMQjCICIg9yK3kWrgMD5-CSnWZypttxGbOhyphenhyphenfcdE/s1600/spookely.jpg
If your kids are anything like mine "Spookley the Square Pumpkin" has been on a few times in the last week...and few is an understatement. As I was surfing Pintrest for a fun Family Home Evening activity for Halloween I came across this perfect idea.
This lesson was great to teach the girls about standing out, being a leader and choosing the right. This lesson also works great for older kids because the questions are more in depth but I easily reworded them for my 5, 2 and 1 year old. After the lesson we colored Spookley. I found a great print out here
Make sure you set your printer to just print Spookley.

I hope your kids enjoy this as much as mine did!

See ya!
